Frances Thompson was born into slavery around 1840. According to Thompson she was raised in Maryland. She was enslaved by a man named Robert Walker and later traveled with his family to Memphis, Tennessee. She was assigned male at birth and later transitioned into a woman.

She worked in a series of softcore and hardcore films over the years. In 1987 Wilson was in an automobile accident and died of a brain hemorrhage.

Originally from Newark, New Jersey, Norman has modeled and been photographed for such publications as Essence, Vogue Italia and Harper's Bazaar India.
